Sharing every bit and bite of this delicious life

Our Empty Room

Hey there!  How’re you guys doin’ today?  I hope fabulously!

Can I just say how awesome you all are?!  I love all of my regular commenters and the relationships we’ve built via the Internet, but I love all of you silent readers just as much.  Seriously.

I’m getting sappy.  Let’s move on. (Blame it on the h-h-h-h-h-hooorrrmoness < sing to the “Blame it on the Alcohol” tune).

I awoke on Saturday bright and early- 7:30am.  I was actually pretty exhausted when I woke up thanks to a later than average night on Friday, but I lazed around in bed for a while as I worked on some homework and planned out my Core Fusion class.  I’ve been very motivated to get a huge pile of work done this weekend.  These next two weeks are about to be crazy busy with midterms (3!) and papers (2!) and a lab (1!).

High five for being productive!

I eventually made what I’m now calling The Best Breakfast Ever in the History of the Entire World.  Or at least The Best Healthy Breakfast Ever in the History of the Entire World.

Strawberry Coconut Cookie Yogurt

I combined a 6oz contain of plain, fat free Greek yogurt with six strawberries, a crumbled up Coconut Cream Pie Larabar, and a tablespoon of unsweetened shredded coconut.

Amazingness.  I had a spiritual moment while eating this.  It was way too good.

After that delish bowl, I threw in a load of laundry and did some more homework.  I love checking things off of my list!  (Except I didn’t really check anything off of my list.  I did make dents in a few projects/assignments/papers though!)

Cool pen, eh?

At 11:15, I walked to the UC Davis gym so I could teach my Core Fusion (abs/back) class.  I love this class so much!  Unlike cardio kickboxing (which, don’t get me wrong, I totally love) I don’t have to do the entire class with the participants.  Instead, I get to walk around, correct form, and yell motivating things.  It’s awesome!

I locked up the group exercise room, returned the key, and waited outside of the gym for… JAKE!  He was in Davis doing a baseball related film job, so he’s now here visiting.  He picked me up and we headed to Cost Plus and Trader Joe’s.  I got a few fun goodies and he got some snacks and lunch.  The “healthy” food in my apartment just doesn’t please him.

Bought this little guy. It smells like Frangelico!

Does anybody else want to cry out of happiness while in Cost Plus World Market?  All of the fun food and furniture items make me incredibly excited.

Once we got back to my apartment, I threw lunch together.  Another quinoa + black bean + avocado wrap with an apple on the side.  No spinach since I’m out of it.  And no picture since I was a hungry beast (I just wrote, “breast” instead of “beast”… someone needs to get her mind out of the gutter) and downed it in about 2.5 seconds.

Anybody want to see a picture of my lunch remnants?

Too bad, I’m showing you anyway.

Whoaaaa, so gorgeous.  Master photographer, holllla!

I had a ¼ cup of peanuts for dessert. Mmmmmm.

After lunch, Jake settled in for a nap and I settled in for some more homework.

Jake finally woke up and we hung out for a bit before I finally worked out!  And boy, was it a killer!  A little backstory:  I live in a 4 bedroom/4 bathroom apartment.  Last year, our fourth roommate moved out and we couldn’t find anybody to fill the fourth room.  So, the apartment complex put a random person in there!  However, we never really got to know her… She moved in over a month after her lease started, and she would only stay here one or two nights per week (her family lived in Sacramento).  Just last week, she told us she had to move out due to family matters.

Long story short, we now have an empty room in the apartment, which we’ve been using to our full advantage.  It’s been our study room, our storage room, our guest bathroom, and now, our workout room!  Sah-weeeet!

I did 6 sets of 3 cardio moves + 1 strength move: 1 minute each, 30 seconds rest between each move, for a 36 minutes workout total.  (Not including a warm-up, of course!)  And I just used 5 lb dumbbells for all of the strength moves.

1.

Burpees, Jump Squats, Jumping Jacks, Tricep Curls

2.

High Knees, Butt Kickers, Split Lunges, Sunrise-Sunsets (a shoulder exercise, I don’t know the real name)

3.

Side Skis, High Jumps, Fast Feet, Pushups

4.

Jog in Place, Knee Drives, Scissor Jumps, Bicep Servers

5.

Muscle Jacks, Mountain Climbers, Criss-Cross Jumps, Front Raises

6.

Squat Jump Together, Invisible Ladder, Burpees, 90* Holds (another shoulder exercise)

Jake sat on the bed and watched my timer for me.  He also scoffed at my workout playlist, which included Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Fergie, and Destiny’s Child.

What?!  You don’t like burpee-ing to “Toxic” and “Lady Marmalade?”  Psh, you’re just kidding yourself.

I’m obnoxious.  This is why I’m never invited to the cool kid concerts.  I just love me some good ol’ pop music, thankyaverymuch.

Music choices aside, I should tell you that I made up a lot of the names of the exercises; so if you’re interested in what any of them are, just let me know.  I’m happy to attempt an explanation!

I was niiiice and shweddy after this.  And I’m treating you guys to a picture of it.  You’re so lucky!

Jake tells me I’m “Kaepernick-ing” here. Fun fact: Jake and I used to go to the same parties as Colin Kaepernick back when Jake and Colin were both at UNR. Jake even has a pic with him!

After the workout, I showered and then Jake and I started on dinner, snacking on cukes during the process.

Shells and white cheddar for him, a quinoa and black bean bowl for her.

My stupidly amazing bowl had 1/3 cup quinoa, 1/3 cup black beans, ¼ avocado, a dollop of plain, fat free Chobani, and a dollop of salsa.

Weird story:  Jake ended up mixing salsa into his shells and white cheddar.  Okay babe, whatever makes you happy.  (Even though I kind of think you’re gross.)

At this point, I realized that my fruit and veggie intake was seriously lacking today.  I’m 110% okay with that.  Grocery shopping happens on Sundays, so Saturdays either involve me stuffing food down my throat before it goes bad, or scavenging in the back of the pantry for half-empty bags of rice and cans of soup.  This week was the latter.

I finished off my night with an apple and some Netflix in bed with Jake.

The best way to end any night.  Am I right or am I right?

  1. Haha I like your selfies. And yes, I’d say you had a pretty awesome weekend. I’ve heard of toasted marshmallow flavor of that torini stuff and I need it. It’s going to become a staple in my diet.

  2. That breakfast looks amazing. Strawberries are my favorite! Love the post-workout shots – you are still cute after you work out! Lucky :)

    • I’d been craving strawberries all last week and I finally bought some. They taste like summer. Haha, I had to dim the lights for those post-workout shots… It definitely helped mask my super red face and the sweat dripping into my eyes. Lovely ;) .

  3. You are just to damn cute!! Love the dinner bowl!!!

  4. I almost asked where the cat came from and then realized it was Lexi. Hah :-) . I love you!!

  5. I love how you always use fresh fruit in your breakfast bowls! They are so colorful and I have to agree that adding coconut to yogurt is amazing :)

  6. Girl you are a breast! I mean beast… :) Just kidding… but seriously, your ambition and delish food makes me want to kick my own butt. Love it!

  7. I only like to do workouts when no one else is home–I feel so awkward having people watch me! That yogurt looks delish

  8. Your pictures truly impress me! Everything always looks so pretty and delicious :) .

  9. Girl I gotta go with jake on this one… salsa mixed with shells & cheese sounds pretty good to me.. then again, I think salsa is amazing on almost any food! :)

Glad you two got to spend a weekend together. p.s. your guitar pen totally rocks!

    • Hahaha, he actually made me try a bite, and it wasn’t so bad… The salsa wasn’t very chunky, so it kind of tasted like tomato sauce. Whatever makes him happy, I guess ;) .
